The program

What Scouts do here

Real leadership, real camps, and advancement a scout owns.

Scouts BSA gives young men and women outdoor adventure, service, and leadership they actually practice. The troop is scout-led. Adults monitor and coach. Scouts plan meetings, campouts, and service. Troop 111 is chartered by American Legion Post 180, Broward Memorial Post, in Plantation.

It is designed to happen outside. Skills from the meeting become useful when a patrol has to cook, navigate, pitch camp, and look after one another.

Scouts set their own pace. Merit badges cover more than 120 subjects, from wilderness survival to game development. Each signed-off requirement is a record in Scoutbook, not a race.

Meetings

Weekly meetings cover camping skills, hiking, canoeing, archery, fishing, STEM, and troop business. The troop meets Mondays, 7:00–8:30 p.m., at Plantation United Methodist Church. Meetings follow the Broward schools calendar.

Who can join

Youth ages 10–17. At least 10 and in fifth grade, registering on or after March 1; or an Arrow of Light recipient who is at least 10; or age 11 and not yet 18. Boys and girls are welcome.

Where it can go

Council camps, Florida waterways, and high adventure later — summer camp, Sea Base, Philmont, and Northern Tier are the long arc of the program, earned by scouts who stay with it.
